Rumour of BHP and BG Merger does it hold water?

I Forgot to add to my previous post the rumours that BHP has considered a merger with BG group. In my opinion it looks a wild rumour but newspapers love this stuff.  The company it would create would be massive. If you were to get into BG group before the takeover it could be quite profitable as what happens most times is the company being sought usually increases in value as interest is shown.

This is probably the source of the rumour an off the hand comment made by Kloppers that he wanted to expand BHP's oil and gas business.
